| Severe Cramps & Prolonged Period |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|12:45 am] |
Please help me. :( I went to the doctor yesterday about this issue and was told to wait it out, but it's become increasingly worse.
I have had my period for about six weeks now. At first I didn't think anything of it because I'd missed a couple pills of my birth control and thought the next pack would regulate it. I'm now almost finished that next pack and it hasn't gone away. The bleeding is fairly light, though has become heavier over the last five days or so.
Tuesday night I had this pain in my abdomen. Nothing like menstrual cramps, it was like every muscle is my abdomen was tensed up. At first it was just uncomfortable, but Wednesday it became painful. Yesterday I lifted something at work and was brought to my knees in pain, could only hunch over holding my stomach. This is when I went to the doctor.
He said the pain and the period is absolutely related, but said to wait a week to see if it goes away. Said something about the uterus cramping and contracting???
But today the pain has only gotten worse. I only made it an hour at work and literally could not stand. I was hunched over, almost nauseus from the pain. And it's still only getting worse. I don't know what to do. |

Dear Specific Author,
Ron is not going to equate Harry with Draco Malfoy if Harry knows something about the wizarding world Ron doesn't. He is not going to start calling Harry by his last name, and saying "Potter wasn't even that good in school!"
Ron can be jealous of Harry, and he can be a prat about it sometimes, but overall he is very loyal to Harry.
Nor does he particularly strike me as the type of person who refers to himself in the third person while ranting about how great he will become. That's more Voldemort's territory.
Love, A person who thought you were doing a decent job of characterizing Ron before this left-field lunacy.
Dear Authors-In-General,
Harry/Ron fics do not require Hermione to be demonized. Stop making her out to be a crazy person out to destroy everyone's happiness. These are the two people she cares most about, you know!
Same for any other pairings up of the trio.
Love, Somebody who likes her slash and her Hermione fic. |

| | aggravated | ] | The fic started out really good. Well written, tugged at the heartstrings, I was all ready to love it to pieces. It had a pretty common scenario where Naruto has to take down Sasuke, for the village’s sake. And I could see Naruto doing this. What I can’t see Naruto doing? After smashing Sasuke’s body, grabbing him by the hair and cutting his head off. Then slamming the head face first into the dirt and jamming a kunai through it.
I get it, the author doesn’t like Sasuke…but Naruto does. I just can't see him mutilating Sasuke's corpse like that. Killing him to protect the village? Yes. Cutting off the head and then jamming a kunai threw through* the skull of the guy he said was a brother to him? Not so much.
ETA* I can't proofread on Vicodin apparently. -_-

| Professional photographer, late 1940s |
[Nov. 5th, 2009|10:47 pm] |
Vintage camera enthusiasts, help me out! My character is an American documentary photographer in 1949. He specializes in location work, nearly always outdoors and often in rough conditions. He's taking a solo trip to Mexico (probably by bus and train rather than by car, though that could change) to scout and shoot various subjects. I'm trying to determine what sorts of cameras/film/lenses he might haul along and what other supplies and tools he might need to do his work. ( Cut for details ) |

| Ocella Concerns - UPDATE |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|11:11 pm] |
Previous post here: http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/17361892.html
They performed an ultrasound on both of my legs, which were negative for blood clots. WOOHOO! But I'm not totally satisfied...
I spoke with my OBGYN about Ocella, and that I really, really LIKE taking it, but she was very adamant about me getting off of it ASAP. When I asked about other HBCs I could take similar to Ocella but with a different formula, her answer, "NO - I don't want you taking any HBC." And her only reasoning? I smoke cigarettes.
I totally understand smoking increases your risk. However, I really wouldn't categorize myself as super-HIGH-risk (not overweight, not over 35, no past history of blood clots/the like). But it irritates me a little bit she was the one who PUSHED, and HARD, I use HBC knowing I'm a smoker. And knowing I tested negative for blood clots, why not another HBC if Ocella is the proverbial Big Bad Wolf out of all that's out there. Or majority, anyway.
So, I'm stuck. If I quit smoking, can I still take Ocella or a DIFFERENT HBC? (Asked this of my OBGYN and she was quick to brush it off/handed me a pamphlet of non-hormonal methods of BC.)
Again- thanks! |

Here, in the States if someone is caught buying alcohol for underage drinkers or in anyway helping people underage to do something that is illegal simply do to age, we call it "contributing to the deliquency of a minor" or "contributing" for short.
Is it called the same thing there, and if not what is it called? |

[Nov. 6th, 2009|10:16 pm] |
You know that feeling you get when the skin from a piece of popcorn gets stuck in your gums? Well, I'd been having that on and off for several days, but couldn't get rid of it. I tried brushing it out, I tried flossing it out, nothing. Finally, I figured it was just my gums being odd and there was nothing actually in there.
Well. Today at lunch I went at it with the end of my drinking straw and finally got something out. What it is/was/whatever, I have no fucking idea at all. It was roughly the size/shape/consistency of a green pepper seed, so maybe that? Though I haven't a clue how one would have gotten in there. It was all brownish/yellow from being stuck in there for so long, but, much to my surprise, it didn't smell at all.
And now there's a nice little hole in my gum where the thingy used to reside. Perhaps a trip to the dentist is in order. =/ |

Well, okay, here's what I know about your fic: what fandom it's for (due to the section it's in), the characters (due to the tags), and that it's two chapters long so far. I also know that you would like reviews and that your story contains spoilers.
But I know nothing concerning the plot. I was fairly sure that a summary was supposed to provide that. The only plot-related things I know are from tags rather than your summary. Bad author. No cookie. I don't even know what section of the source material these spoilers are for! Endgame? Halfway through? Something found out in the first five minutes but that it quite shocking?
This is like summarizing a book with the following: "There are words! There is more than one chapter! Someone dies! Oh, and the characters are named Gary and Matthew! Please read! Oh pretty please!" |

| question about effectiveness of pill |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|06:40 pm] |
Sorry if this is confusing, I'll try to be clear as possible.
I'm on Yaz and usually start my new packs on Wednesday, but didn't have the money to get my new one until today (Friday) and I went ahead and took the first pill. I know that I could technically go 7 days hormone free and still be protected (last active pill was taken on Friday Oct. 30 which makes today day 7), but I'm wondering if my protection may have been compromised throughout the month.

Now, I'm all for fics that deal with real life issues, like homophobia. I've even been known to write one or two myself.
However, when people vehemently object to a teacher having sex with his underage student, homophobia might play a part in it, but that sure isn't the whole thing. After all if the student (or teacher) were of another sex, I'm pretty sure their parents would still be loudly objecting. |

| Pregnancy risk which I'm probably overthinking... |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|07:06 pm] |
I took my last dose of my antibiotic (generic for Vantin; used for my UTI/kidney infection) on Thursday the 29th. I took it for two weeks before that. I took Diflucan that night as well (which if you remember my last post apparently has a birth control interference warning now).
I had sex Friday night; I only had one condom and we didn't use that for PIV... He came, inside me as per normal... I totally forgot about asking him to pull out in the heat of the moment. I know, idiotic of me.
Saturday and Sunday I took my birth control on time as I'd been before the sex Friday. Monday, I took it an hour early. Tuesday and Wednesday I totally forgot to take it due to stress. I started again yesterday. I went to the campus health center yesterday and took a urine pregnancy test (standard procedure) and was negative... but I'm 98% if I had gotten pregnant (that's not the correct term technically) it wouldn't show in urine that early.
I'm kinda freaking myself out over this. I'm worried that I might have ovulated due to the antibiotics, and that I might have fertilized the damn thing that Friday night. Do I have enough of a chance of being pregnant that I should go back to the health center and ask for a blood test, specifically? Or am I being overly paranoid? |

| Question - starting bc late |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|05:27 pm] |
|
So I have been on a low hormone birth control pill for 4 months. I was supposed to do a Sunday start recently, but forgot to re-fill, and ended up starting that Wednesday. Is this bad? Whats the harm in starting late and being pill-free for 10 days? Did I screw up my protection? |

| Going off HBC |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|04:38 pm] |
I am on the HBC Seasonique. I have been on birth control since I was 15 and I'm about to turn 23. From age 15 on I have suffered from depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and an eating disorder. I've been doing a lot of research about HBC and I feel like maybe I should do a trial of not being on it to see if that has contributed to any of my issues.
Is this a bad idea? I'm actually quite scared since I've been on it so long... I like knowing when my period is going to come. Also, because of the ED, I'm scared that I will lose my period without the pill which would cause some bone loss (which I already have some of).
I finished my pack on Sunday and haven't started the new one yet, since I know if you are going off the pill, it's best to do so after finishing the pack. How long does it normally take for the hormones to get out of my system? Any advice would be great :-) Thanks |

| letters from the query wars |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|04:42 pm] |
# of queries read this week: 209 # of partials/manuscripts requested: 1 genre of partials/manuscripts requested: fantasy
Writers who take their approach to seeking traditional publication as seriously as writing the novel itself seem to do an awful lot of research. Not for them the rush to dash off a spurious query lacking in the information it should provide. They do everything possible to give their submission an advantage. But even the most dedicated sometimes misses something.
And then there are those just starting out. They hardly know where to look and are quickly overwhelmed by the myriad suggestions on agentquery.com or the many writer forums, or from their critique groups, etc. --- if they are even lucky enough to find such sources. Sometimes there are those that seem to come across agent contact information in mysterious ways (voodoo?) that give no hint or clue as to the best way to start.
The veterans were all new to it at one time, and eventually the new ones will become more experienced. If you could go back in time and share with yourself information about the query process -- What is the one thing you have learned that you wish someone had told you when you first began? |

If you want them to sing a song, at least do the effort to make one up, but having Sheik burst into "My Immortal" is so ooc it hurts. Also, it reminds me of "the fanfic that must not be named".
On second thought, let's just scrap inserting real-world musicians into not-real-world fandoms period. I don't care how much Link likes Red Hot Chili Peppers, unfortunately they don't exist in Hyrule, so if you must, let's be creative and make up our own bands/music, hmm?
Although I would pay to see Anthony Kiedis in Hylian clothing.

| Post Partum blah!! |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|03:37 pm] |
At my 6 week post partum visit, they did all the usual stuff. I get a phone call back saying my pap smear came back with abnormal cells. I go in to get the in-depth microscope + biopsy to check it out further. Turns out I have moderate dysplesia. Now, I have to go back to get the LEEP procedure.. Anyone have experiences with this? I know it's fairly common thing and treatable, but I'm still freaked out about it. And not about the pain (hey, I just had a baby.. nothing can be more painful than that to me), but more about it coming back/being worse/leading to cancer and blah!!
Words of advice? |

| Bleeding and pain when pooing |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|02:30 pm] |
|
I am sorry for the slightly immature terms. I have been experiencing pain and bleeding when I poo for at least the last year. Recently it has seemed to get a lot worse. I had a gyno exam last month. Would she have said anything if she saw anything weird with my poo-hole? Can she see that area of me? Does anyone else have trouble with this and know how to ease the pain/bleeding? Is it serious enough to go to the doctor or can it be treated at home? I am getting very sick of wanting to cry when I go to the bathroom. Help? |

| Yumichika is not your damsel in distress, damnit! |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|03:09 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | annoyed | ] | Yumichika is not to Ikkaku as Mary Jane is to Peter Parker. He is not there for Ikkaku to save so you can show off just how awesome Ikkaku is. No, really, he's not. Yumichika, in fact, is pretty damned badass himself. Therefore, dear fanbrats, this idea that if Yumichika would need rescuing by Ikkaku is a bit of a stretch. Is it possible? Sure. But ithat's not because Yumichika ois a wimp, coward or whatever. It's because, just like many other people, Yumichika just might encounter a foe who's either stronger or craftier then him. It can happen, and he doesn't need to be weak for it to happen.
Ladie and gentlemen, he's in the Eleventh.
Here's a scenerio I keep running into: Yumichika is kidnapped and Ikkaku has to go save him. Ikkaku gets there, find his twu wub all hurt and kidnapped (extra points if he's been raped and is crying), kills his captures in a brilliant display of strength and awesome, ans saves Yumichika. Sex happens and all is right in the world. The end.
Now, as I've pointed out, Yumichika is not a weakling, and he loves a fight as much as the next Eleventh Division thug. Therefore, wouldn't it be fair to give him his due respect and let him show just how weak he's not?
I mean, YMMV and all, but I think it's more likely that Ikkaku would get there and find that Yumichika had effectively saved himself. At least have it so he took out a couple of baddies before getting taken out. SOMETHING! Something so it doesn't feel like one of my favorite characters is being shoehorned into this romance heroine ideal that doesn't make a lick of sense for his character.
Please?
edit because I'm apparently drunk and typed "it so" instead of "is to" o.O |
